iPredict - 08

Advertising – Media

- Behavioral targeting will be the buzz word on online advertising and Yahoo will lead in this sector.
- More start-ups in ad serving / ad network, at least a half a dozen will come up in first two quarters of 2008. Those will be mainly focused on behavioral targeting and personalization.
- Non search and display advertising will increase its share, may be to double to its present figures.
- YouTube, sorry but, Google will still be finding ways to make good revenue models, will not be successful.

Mobile

- 2008 will mark the rise of mobile web users, and so applications based on Android will see much success
- Google will buyout Jajah or any other company with similar services to provide mobile AdSense AdWords. So that user can make free calls to advertiser (Product / Service Company)

Online Video

- New start-ups in online movies / TV shows will come up, especially from India / Asian countries
- Joost will still be struggling to get user base
- We will see more new Joost alternatives, with better viewing experience. May be Vividas will come up better solutions in coming year

Social Networks

- Facebook will see some decline; also will finally roll out the behavioral targeting ad platform
- Google's Open Social will be adopted by many other partners, but may not see good response from developer community (like Facebook)
- As guessed by many, social bookmarking Digg will be bought over by big brother
- Twitter, good guess will also be

Online office

- Microsoft will roll out the free office online, paid services for corporate
- Google will expand more docs, will lead this sector by third quarter
- Zoho, one of my favorite India based start-up will be acquired by Yahoo
